The event was tagged "Lipton Tea Party: The Unveiling". There was a perfect feel of the Arewa culture in every respect, from the music to the hosting and even food, such as danwake, masa, gurasa and suya.
The venue also had a typically northern ambience, with mats on the ground and tumtum (floor pillows) to lean on and other traditional northern decorations.
The event had traditional Hausa performers; some of which were the Shantu and Koroso band giving an electric performance and bringing everyone closer to home.
There was also a blend of modern contemporary northern performance from Nomiis Gee, a prominent Hausa HipHop artist in northern Nigeria
The event was hosted by Kannywood legend, Abbas Sadiq Abbas, a popular actor and northern TV presenter, flanked by the delectable Umma Shehu, a popular Kannywood actress. The duo anchored the event with a mix of Hausa and English or what is referred to as INGAUSA
The event was well attended, considering that tea drinking has no age or class, especially for a premium tea like Lipton that virtually every household can identify with.
The Ekattera team led by Chidozie Egbuna - the West African General Manager, Motunrayo Babalola - the Country Brand Manager, and Zainab Abbas - the Ass. Brand Manager and a host of others from the team, were notable faces at the event.
The occasion was an opportunity for catch-ups and connections as top northern Nigerian celebrities showed up on the Yellow carpet including Hassan Giggs, Bashir Maishadda, Hanny SUU, Yasira Yola, D'mej, Ali Gumzak, and many others who graced the event with style.
The new Lipton Extra Strong with intense taste and aroma was enjoyed by guests in cocktail style with added northern spices like Ginger, Lemon Grass and Kanapari (cloves).
The Lipton Extra Strong brand launch was ultimately a huge success. Covid-19 guidelines were observed and attendees, I believe, will have stories and memories to share for a long time.
