Nigerian Army Releases 244 Boko Haram Suspects To Borno State Govt

The Nigerian Army on Monday handed over 244 Boko Haram suspects, who it said have given up membership of the terrorist group, to the Borno State government.
The Nigerian Army have on Monday, released 244 persons detained in connection with Boko Haram insurgency in Borno State.
Theatre Commander, Operation LAFIYA DOLE, Maj. Gen Rogers Nicholas, announced the release of the detainees at the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration at Maimalari Cantonement Military Cemetery, Maiduguri, in the state capital.

“After screening of the detainees, the military is glad to release them to the Borno State government,” Gen Nicholas said after handing over the detainees to the state government.
The suspects comprise 56 women, 118 adult male, 19 under aged persons and 51 children.
Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State, later, held talks with the detainees at the parade ground of the Cemetery where the Armed Forces Day celebration was held.
